Patrick S. Osmer — August 20, 2015

Pat Osmer

If you are a new graduate student, come to the Graduate School's Welcome and Resource Fair on Monday, August 24, in the Ohio Union's Grand Ballroom. Refreshments are available starting at 8:45 a.m. The program starts at 9:30.

You'll have fun, meet lots of new graduate students, and get some key information to help get you pointed in the right direction.

We'll run through how graduate education is structured at Ohio State. It's different than undergraduate.

The Graduate School is your college of record. We oversee all graduate programs, and we interact with you for degree milestones like exams, dissertations, theses, and graduation. We also assist you with unique situations related to your appointments, registration, and questions you have along the way.

Your graduate program is your local home for most of your regular activities as a graduate students, and the graduate program staff and your advisor are the first people for you to ask if you have questions.

But if you still have questions or concerns or are just not sure where to look next for something that you need, call us in the Graduate School. Contact

I'm looking forward to meeting you. Welcome!

Patrick S. Osmer is vice provost for graduate studies and dean of the Graduate School at Ohio State. He is also currently serving as chair of the board of directors for the Council of Graduate Schools. Osmer was chair of the Ohio State astronomy department from 1993-2006.
