Future of Graduate Education

Future of Graduate Education in the United States

In spring 2010, the Council of Graduate Schools released its report "The Path Forward: The Future of Graduate Education in the United States." The report was produced by the Commission on the Future of Graduate Education in the United States, a joint effort of the Council of Graduate Schools and the Educational Testing Service (ETS).

Patrick S. Osmer, vice provost for graduate studies and dean of the Graduate School, was a member of the commission as was Ron Townsend, executive vice president of Battelle's Global Laboratory Operations. Both were both in Washington, D.C.,  in April for the report's release and took part in conversations with Ohio's congressional delegation.

The report gives a valuable perspective on the national need for a graduate-level workforce and provides a framework for our initiatives to strengthen graduate education at Ohio State.
