Sexual Misconduct, Relationship Violence

M. Scott Herness — September 25, 2015

M. Scott Herness, interim vice provost for graduate studies and dean of the graduate school

Last week, I was attending the Association of American Universities’ meeting of the Association of Graduate Schools when the AAU released its national campus climate survey on sexual misconduct and relationship violence.

Ohio State participated in the AAU survey last spring, and the university’s involvement is part of its ongoing effort—newly organized through Buckeyes ACT—to enhance prevention and support. Provost Steinmetz also announced online training designed specifically for students.

I encourage you to take the training. It will help you in your multiple roles – as a graduate student, as a graduate teaching associate, graduate research associate, or fellow, and as a member of the Ohio State community.

M. Scott Herness is interim vice provost for graduate studies and dean of the Graduate School at Ohio State. Herness is a professor and former chair of Oral Biology in the College of Dentistry and holds a joint appointment in the Department of Neuroscience, College of Medicine.
